Rockpools Pt I. -Mona Vale

Tonight's photos are coming in two chapters- although I shot them to be one story, when I finished I felt like the mood was so different that I would spoil the effect by throwing them all in together.

Ever since I became interested in photography, I have been captivated by beautiful coastal photos.  There is something I find very appealing in the way the sometimes violent surf meets the soft landscape.  Captured on film this is often accentuated by the soft misty effect of the water washing around hard, sharp rocks and outcrops.

This isn't my first attempt at this sort of work, but it's certainly the first I've been happy enough to share.  I found this sort of photography particularly enjoyable, my hobby leads me to enjoy some of life's simple pleasures like watching the sun set over a beach.

Chapter 1 was shot on ANZAC day at Mona Vale.  The shots here have a darker, heavier sort of mood:

I was a little nervous to delve into my back and swap for a bigger zoom while standing on the rocks but I'm glad I stuck with my super-wide for this shot- it brings a sense of scale to the shot. The fisherman seems very vulnerable and dwarfed by the endless expanse of water in front him.
